Getting Started
Welcome to WebManager 4!
WebManager 4 is a content management system (CMS) that has been developed by the IT team at Salvation Army International Headquarters in London. Having been rewritten using modern components, it includes the following features:
- Amazon EC2 Hosting & Caching
- Clean URLs & SEO Management
- Integration with GDoS Zip/Location Search
- Multiple RSS Feed Creation
- Disqus on-page discussion capabilities
- Google calendar import
- News widgets
- Secure, password-protected pages
- Multiple skins, including 2 fully mobile-responsive choices
- Edit in New Window functionality
- ...and more!
This site aims to bring all of the capabilities and nuances of what can be done with the CMS, as well as with the two mobile-responsive skins now available. This site will be updated as new features are added to either the themes or the CMS itself.
Creating a New Site
Currently, the best way to have a new WebManager 4 site created is to contact your Divisional or Territorial Web Manager. Below is a list of Territorial contacts for the US:
- USC - Jon Aren
- USE - Orlando Haddock
- USW - John Docter
. They will then request the creation of the new site at the IHQ level.
Migrating a Site from WebManager 3.x
It is also possible for a site on WebManager 3.x (the older, browser-based version) to be converted to WebManager 4. For more details, please visit our Site Migration page.
Migrating a Site from WordPress to WebManager 4
There is also a script available to migrate a site from WordPress to WebManager 4. This requires some database cleanup and export of the SQL database, but it is possible and more information will be available shortly.
Logging In
To login to your webmanager site, visit the root URL and add /admin to it.
For example, the login for a site with the site url of "booth" would have a login URL such as http://subdomain.salvationarmy.org/booth/admin
Once you enter or paste this URL in, it does change to a generic login URL, but it is important to start with the type of URL above so that the system knows where to log you in to.
The username is simply your internet-based email address (first_last@usc.salvationarmy.org, for example).
The password is the same that you would use to login to Lotus Notes or the Red Shield Toolkit. In technical terms, it is your Internet password, which can be reset for you with the help of your local IT department.
Once you have entered these, hit the login button and you are in!
